All of us that have been fortunate enough to drive a Vette for any length of time have experienced the juvenile challenge or attempt to goad you into a stupid street race, but what recently occurred to me really takes the cake.
This past Saturday evening the weather was fairly mild so I took my son out to dinner. As we were driving down a busy 6 lane a convoy of about 8 ricers came along side me and took turns reving their engines, cutting in front of me, and tail gateing. They were as annoying as a swarm of rice-paddy mosquito's. For that many to swarm I assumed they must have just come from a local "rice-harvest / car club meeting" and were pumped. Just ignored them and went on about my business and they swarmed off cutting in on other car's and just being plain reckless. Thought I had seen the last of them until moments later on the Interstate they came up behind me and passed on the shoulder obviously racing each other. They then lined up three abreast (on two lanes) and before I knew it I had one more on each side and as many behind me. Did not have the cell phone available, and did not want to risk a confrontation with my son in the car. They had actually slowed down to less than 20 MPH and traffic started to back up behind us. I never took the bait, and after about a mile of this they got off at the very next exit. What a bunch of losers. Thanks for letting me
Being "challenged" is an option that most of us got with our C5's whether we wanted it or not. Just comes with the territory I guess.
One of the few up sides to living in CA, had something like that happen (not as bad), on the cell phone to CHP and you would have thought that these guys had robbed a bank!!! It was cool, now I never leave home without my cell.
Wow, glad to hear you kept your head. It's easy to say that's the proper thing to do, but being in that situation it would be very difficult to not do something stupid. Cheers to you, I could only hope that I would act the same
Can't believe nobody called the COPs. If these clowns slowed down that many cars, I would think someone would have been pissed enough to make a cell phone call to the COPs.
Oh yes I took note of the plates, and the day will come. I could have flashed a badge and made an arrest but, not worth putting my son in danger, and even then what would have I done with him/them other than cuffing them to a guard rail or light pole. I was really surprised that no one else made the call. Very dumb for me to be without my cell phone Live and learn I guess.
You are a LEO????? And you let this happen on a public street without doing something about it!!!!! Shame. shame and no soup for you.....
I always say there's never a LEO around when you need one, and this time there was, for shame I hope you run each one in and confiscate thier ricers for street racing!

You did the right thing...and kept your cool. No need to put your son or others in danger by attempting a car stop in your POV for some kids showing their azz...
...on another note, carry flex cuffs in every car you own...just in case
