I would like your input. Is there anything better than a V1? If yes, than please explain why.

Here we go again...

Do a search for Valentine -- you'll find more opinions than you want on both sides.

However, the short answer to your question is: NO.

you will hear a group that likes the V1 and another group that likes the passport 8500 - it is like a religious arguement...

well this has been discussed in great detail on this forum over the passed few months.

Summary:

PassPort 8500 and V1 perform basically the same. PassPort is less expensive and looks better. V1 has the arrow feature which some people think is a great advantage. Both have POP and I think that PassPort is better with over the hill radar while V1 is better with Straight Front and Behind detection. I believe both are upgradable now (though I am not 100% sure about the passport).

So in other words. Pick the one that you feel best fits your needs.

BTW - I have a V1, had it for years and had it upgraded from V1. I am so use to the arrows now that I am not sure if I could go to another radar detector, but that is me....

I have both the Escort & the Valentine 1 and prefer the V1 by far! Have not used the 8100 since buying the V1.

You might of kept it if they had sent you the 8500 X50 instead of the 8100

I've had them both two and sent the V1 back do to all the FALSE signals.

I bought a Bel RX65 Pro to try something different and it works great. This is the same as an Escort 8500 X50 but with a few additional features(it talks to me and I like that). The V1, RX65 Pro and The 8500 X50 all work great so buy whichever one you like.

I've monitored this topic for a couple of years on this forum. Truth is I have seen posts of getting nailed with both of them.

It doesnt hurt to have either one but you should think about changing your driving behavior. I am not saying dont speed, just saying you should know when you can get away with it and when you cant. Now some will have made claims to have never been caught with a certain model. That doesnt mean squat. Fact is your foot cannot react quicker than a beam or signal. Good luck.

or like i say, atleast know when and where you can get away from it. They actually have interesting books on this giving good advice. Dont find yourself becoming a chronic speeder cuz eventually you will get nailed and you will find it very difficult in breaking the speeding behavior.
