I could be wrong, but I thought I read somewhere, one's in the front brake air duct, and there's another on the dash that measures the sunlight and they put the two together to tell the temp???? Double check though..
No, unfortunately it can't. Am I to assume from your question that your external air temp. reading is inaccurate? If so, the sensor just needs to be replaced. You need to "wiggle" your hands down to unclip it, but it's an easy unplug the old & plug in the new. Its about an $8 part from a dealer. The formal name is an outside ambient air sensor.
PS - its a REALLY common problem.
PPS - only other replacement problem could be the plug the sensor clips in to could be corroded to the point of no return. If so, you will need to replace that as well. Again, cheap part.
Had to replace the one in my son's 99. Part # I have is 10248414. We also had to replace the wiring connector as it had corroded. I found one at a local AC/Delco shop that was a bit cheaper than Chevy dealer. It's ACD# is PT374; GM# 12102747.
