Default Brake Light STUCK ON!!!!

anybody ever have a sticky brake light?! ive had a few friends ask me why i ride the brakes so much, and i explained to them i never do. i had them follow me, and sure enough, my brake lights were staying on! im guessing its in the pedal though, because if i pull the pedal up with my foot then the lights go out. kinda annoying to keep doing that, but i feel bad for the people behind me!

whats the fix? something have to be replaced? or is there an adjustment somewhere?

thanks for any info! id love to put a STOP to this problem ASAP!

I would guess that that brake light switch is loose. Look down at your brake pedal linkage and find the switch as you move the pedal with your hand. You should be able to determine the problem from doing this.

I agree, it sounds like the brake light switch. Could be sticking and causing your lights to stay on.

There may be a bigger issue, have your master cylinder checked. Can't search right now but this has come up in the past.

yeah im thinking there is a bigger issue. the pedal is actually sticking to the floor after being pushed in. not really "stuck" but it "sags" down to the floor, like it doesnt come up all the way.

i did a search, but of course came up with nothing! anyone else have any info, or have experienced this before?

If your pedal is staying down too low then it could be that your brake system needs to be bleed or you have more expensive problems. Check for leaks around the brakes, lines and master cylinder.

Does it go off if you lift the peddle with your foot?
I had to adjust mine.
On my G20 van I had to actually bend the bracket that holds it (the switch) as I ran out of threads to adjust it.
Check your master cylinder also.
Also, are you throwing any codes?
Good Luck

Brian, lets re-bleed your brakes and check for leaks...HOWEVER the brakes did this same thing before we changed to the stainless-steel brake lines! However the rule is to always check what we checked last.

Wed. or later this week come on over and we'll get the brake lines checked for leaks, and re-bleed again.

Let me know what we need to do to get this fixed! I'm sick of driving behind you with your draging brake light!!
