Default HRE wheel advice

I am interested in a set of HRE wheels and need advice on choosing sizes. What is preferred 18" all around or 19"? It seems like the 19" tire selection is slim for a 295/30, where the 18's are pleantiful and much less expensive. Also what is a good price to pay new for a set? Thanks, John

I think HRE's are best in 18's front and 19's rear. They just look right that way. I had 547's in 18 all the way around. The R series is the best with the smaller lip. IMO. You can find some around here for good prices used. You just have to shop, and look through the F/S section. Price will just depend on what style they are.
Hope this helps.

Ditto. I haven't bought HRE's (yet!), but prefer the 18/19 set-up and the R series is my preferences.

Some people prefer the Angelina Jolie lips, some don't. Personal preference.

My $0.02:

Go with the 19/18's - there are plenty of tire options for these sizes.

Get these used if at all possible, otherwise plan on between $6K and $8K (depending on style).

As to 'lips', here are two different 'lips' ("R" & non- "R").

I'd go with 18/19's in an r spec.

I figured out the difference - the "r" has a flat lip. Why does everyone want one inch smaller wheels in the front? I have never understood that. Is it just the stance that a smaller wheel projects like a dragster?

Aesthetics I'd imagine.

Better served with equal sized tires all around.
Neutralizes the Z's tendency to understeer.

Actually, many hard core racers go with an 18" up front, and a 17" in the rear w/equal widths.
