Default Key fobs

Any ideas as to how you can re-set the key fobs on a '99? Both of mine quit working after the vehicle had been sitting for a while. At forst the tire pressure warnings were going off due to low air the air pressure was corrected, and then I noticed the fobs not working . I realize these two features uses the same receiver, just wondering if there was a way to re-set these darn things...Thanks in advance for your suggestions or help.

Give this a try.

The manual for my 97 says

"Try to resynchronize the transmitter by pressing and holding the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons for seven seconds when standing next to the vehicle." This will attempt to resynchronize the security code in your RFA key fob transmitter.

When resynchronization is achieved the horn will chirp. If attempts to resynchronize your transmitter to the vehicle are not successful, you man need to match the transmitter to the vehicle.

To match the transmitter to your vehicle:

1. Turn the ingnition key to the ON position
2. Clear any warning messages on the Driver Information Center (DIC) by pressing the RESET button.
3. Press the OPTIONS button on the DIC several times until the blank page is displayed, then press and hold the RESET button for two seconds.
4. When the message FOB TRAINING is displayed, push the RESET button once. The message HOLD LK+UNLK 1ST FOB will be displayed.

5. Press and hold the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on the transmitter simultaneously for 15 seconds.

6. When a transmitter is learned, the DIC will display FOB LEARNED and then prompt you to learn the next transmitter.

7. Repeat steps 5 and 6 for each additional transmitter.

8. Remove the key from the ignition.

The programmer mode will shut off if:

You don't program any transmitters for two minutes.
You take the key out of the ignition.
You have programmed three transmitters.

Hope this helps.

But the only thing I question, especially if the tire pressure sensors were giving messages, too.......how's the battery? You mentioned that the car has been sitting for a while, was it on a Battery Tender?

Just about everyone here will attest that weird things start happening when the battery starts to fail...... just a thought.
