Default Someone keyed my vette!

I had just finished detailing and waxing my car before taking my girlfriend out to the movies at the mall, so i decided to double park to avoid any door chips from the snowbirds down here in florida (there were plenty of spots). WEll when i came back out there was about a 14" key mark down the side of my door, not sure if its because of my parking job or jealousy... I'm goint to have it painted but I'm not sure where to bring it here in s.w florida?!? Every little scratch bothers me nevermind someone keying my baby! AHHHHHH

Sorry to hear about that crap...if it was me and I found out who did it, there would be some broken bones.

Probably a result of jealousy. Some people just have no respect for other's property

Taking two spots just calls attention, plus being a Vette adds the jealousy factor, which is bad enough.

It's probably a little of both. I don't know how many times I've parked away from everybody and some Nut case has to park so close you can't even get into the car.
Makes me mad as H*LL.

It doesn't matter if he took up two spots or not. That isn't justification to act like a jerk.

So if some guy perceives some slight from you, intentional or not, he has the justification to key your car?

That is bad news no matter what the reason (there never is one). The last thing I want to do is pile on but I would never double park any vehicle let alone the Vette. That is just asking for trouble from some idiot. I would have parked it out in the back 40 and if I wasn't comfortable with that I just wouldn't take it (which is a damn shame). Hope you can get it fixed so you can't tell it ever happened.

Peace.

why would you double park at the P.C. Town Center? ... it actually brings more attention to yourself, especially with all the young punks in P.C. Learned that fortunately only with a loogie.

Sunset Chevrolet in Sarasota, I'm getting mine taken care of up there right now. I'll let you know how it turns out. But it looks like it's going to be good.

They will ticket you here for not parking between the lines
I know not everyone has a second car to drive to places like this, guess I'am lucky
Good luck with the repairs & future parking.

I know you were wanting to protect your car, but taking up two places is asking for trouble. The corvette draws enough attention anyway. Still it wasn't a reason to key your car, but some people don't need reasons.

If by double-parking, you mean taking two spots, that is a definite no-no! That just gives everyone the impression you think you're better than them, and that usually leads to no good. Unfortunately, there are some places where I just don't park my Vette.

As soon as I saw the title of this thread what went through my mind was, "let me guess, they double parked?", and apparently you did.

The other posters who said that your behaviour doesn't justify that reaction are correct. On the other hand, you asked for your car to be keyed and your request was granted.

I'd say it was your parking job too. More and more I am hearing that this is the standard reply to that and other kinds of non-standard parking.

I feel bad for you also, but I would never park my Corvette at the mall or a movie theatre. Too many "jerks" just can't resist. Also, if I caught them, then I would end up in jail for kicking their a$$!

Sorry to hear about that, but I would have to blame your parking job. I have heard of several double parkers getting keyed. I think you are making yourself a target.
