car at start-up has tick...
Ok, right now I'm looking to purchase a 2000 FRC with 90,000 miles. I called the dealer where its at (bob mcdormand in columbus, oh, "corvette specialists") to ask about it. Well, everything seems to check out except the dealer said there was a 'tick' in the engine at cold start up that went away when it warmed up...my 98 never had any tick and it also had 90k on it. Sooo, should I let this one go by or is this tick a common problem that doesn't affect performance? BTW, the car is 100% stock...

Sounds like possible piston slap... Not uncommon. Goes away after the temps start to come up. Dont know what to tell you on whether or not to buy. Mine has done it since I got it and runs fine.

Well, if it doesn't affect the performance aspect of the car then I think I can deal with it...but I will have to see it person to make a decision. My buddy just called me that I had look at the car tonight and he said there was no ticking whatsoever...hmmm. Guess I'm flying to columbus sat.
