Not sure about Mass. Did you get two plates when you registered?
I got stopped a second time (local city where I live here in Ohio) and given a second verbal warning (Ohio needs front plate, $250 revenue enhancement if you don't have one) I guess if you leave the scene of a crime in reverse. Most of the Crown Vics they drive couldn't catch you in reverse either.
Gotta keep the convicts busy in the House of Do Rights.
I painted my plate surround the color of my car and clear-coated it, mounted the plate, and fixed the normal plate area cover with velcro.
Looks pretty good and you can't see the plate when it's in place. If I get stopped again I'll just tell John Law that I forgot to take it off.
My daughters Camaro doesn't even have a spot to mount a plate. I guess you have to drill holes.
I live in Mass and don't run my front plate. Been lucky for almost 2 years now. I don't know what the fine is but if it doesn't carry any points and its less than $100 its worth it. Mass. did issue a single plate some years ago for a few years so many vehicles are still running around with only 1 plate and I don't think its a big priority with the cops. Just remember to put the front plate on for your annual inspection, its required to pass.
require 2 plates in Jersey, however I cant knowingly commit the sacriflege of putting a front plate on a C5. Saw one just the other night with the plate on, and it looked horrible. Detracts from the car totally. I just drive around with the front plate under my seat and think good thoughts. Figure anything under 100$ is worth it...in moderation.
How's this for irony?
When I was picking up my new 04 in NY last Nov, I got a parking ticket on our Maxima which also included I think a $75 fine for no front plate on that!! I do have two plates, just never bothered with it, and I am from Mass.
Still just have one plate on the vert.
Steve.
I've had my car for over 4 years and have never been stopped for not having a front plate. As a police officer, I can't remember the last time I gave someone a ticket for not having a front plate.
