Not at all. Suggest you don't for safety sake. Even when autocrossing I leave it active. Competitive mode is good. That gets rid of the traction control but leaves the AH active. My .02

The Active Handling System, RPO JL4, debuted on the 1998 Corvette as an option. Second-Generation Active Handling was introduced in model year 2001 and it also became standard equipment that year.

Obviously if you have wet or slippery roads keep it on, but otherwise you can turn it on/off as desired. I usually kept mine on though - never know when you might need it.
I have active handling, but how to I turn it to competition mode, I notice I have on and off.
Depending on the year of your car - you may have to be stopped. But press and hold the active handling button until it changes to Competition Mode (assuminf you begin the process with Active handling on) on the DIC. Newer cars can do this while moving as well.
