My 2000 coupe doesn't seem to have active handling, the dealer i bought it from was telling me every car had it and you hold down the buttom for traction control for 5 seconds or something and it comes on. Well i've held it for forever and it hasn't changed anything. Is there a chance my car doesnt have it or is it broken and something i need to get fixed...btw its a loaded mn6
Active Handling was introduced in 1998 as an option.
It didn't become standard until 2001.
Your 2000 apparently doesn't have that option.
To be 100% positive, look on your cars RPO tag. IF the car does have active handling the RPO code JL4 will be there. If there is no JL4 on the tag, you do NOT have Active Handling.
I thought my 2000 had it also but it's not there. I've never used it so I can't miss it, but I wonder if it would have kept me going straight a time or 2 when I nailed the gas.
I assumed I had it as well for about a year. I remember a handful of times I would get into a hairy situation and on coming back out I would say to myself, 'man this active handling system is amazing'. If I had a passenger with me at the time who was still willing to stay 'inside' the car after such a recovery I would then treat them to a treatise on my cars active handling system, describing how it senses yaw and pitch and roll and activates each of the four brakes independently to assist in straightening out the car. Well, needless to say we would both agree that it seemed to be doing a damn fine job.
Then I heard about the competition mode on the forums one day, and couldn't figure out why my button was broken since it would never activate either...
On the plus side, having been behind the wheel of my car for a couple years now the need to go sideways around corners has somewhat diminished and other than the occassional long straight burnout my driving is pretty tame. Knowing now that I don't have AH has definitely contributed to my change in driving style...

the button on the console will also say "active handling" instead of "traction control".
I really wish I had it on my car... its the only thing I overlooked when I bought it. It probably would have saved me when I put the car into a curb 2 years ago.

Unfortunately, no, every Corvette doesn't have it. Mine doesn't.
