Have a 2000 Coupe. Removed wheels to install drilled and slotted rotors and paint calibers. Good year run flats have 35000. The inside edge of both front tires are very worn. They have bumps about the size of a dime bubbled up on the top of the inside tread. These tires are done for. What is usually a cause for this kind of wear. I felt no pull when driving the car. It was smooth and straight. I shudder to think that we just drove it 125mph. Scarry!
New Michelin Pilot Sport ZPs are on the way from Tire rack. They are nice people to order from.
Do the Vette front ends align like other cars?
35k on tires! I don't think I've ever had that much milage on a tire, no less one that will be driven hard and fast. Sounds like alignment to me. Just got Pilot Sport ZP for my wife, big improvment over the GY EMT.
I have 40,000 miles on my goodyear runflats, there wore out but they wore evenly. So i would have that checked out.
I am also going to go with the michelin pilot sport runflats.
I'm wanting some tires that ride better than the goodyears and from what i've read on this forum i think the michelin's are my best bet.
Inside wear on front tires is normal. I got over 50,000 miles with my fronts, but insides were worn more.
The tire alignment is a compromise. Inside front wear usually means you do more straight line driving (i.e. highway) than curves. This is my case. If you do more curves, you will get even wear. You can reset alignment for the type of driving you do, a chart has been posted several times. But 35,000 - 50,000 miles on a high performance tire on a corvette is acceptable to me !
