Default Catback install question

Hey guys, little help please. Took my GHLs apart to get them lined up "just right" and lost one of the muffler bracket mounting bolts up inside the frame. Can I get access to the bolt from inside the trunk area in my Coupe? If so, how much of the interior carpeting do I have to pull back? Thanks for the help!

Unfortunately, if you can't get it back in the hole with amagnet, you'll probably have to pull the rear fascia off to get to the bumper crossmember and reinsert the bolt.

That is exactly why I didn't mess with those when I did my Ti install. I started to loosen them and decided to leave them in and just slide the tab out. BE PATIENT AND CAREFUL and you should be able to retrieve it with the magnet. GOOD LUCK!!!

Because the stock hangers can provide a "level" of adjustment/alignment for a cat back system, here is a tip so people doing future jobs do not lose the bolts:

Do not take off both the hanger bolts at the same time

Tip: loosen both bolts, but only remove one at a time, add washers as needed and then re-apply the bolt, proceed to the next bolt.

Peace

I just went thru this last weekend, not once but twice. The second time I lost sight of the hanger all together. With a little patience you can get them back in the holes. If the hanger is out of sight use a piece of wire to fish it back into view. What I found to work was to get the hanger turned upside down using a small awl, pick or wire, and pushed against the back side of the crossmember. The holes are closer to the back side than the front side. Align the studs with the holes and raise the base of the hanger up. The threaded studs will tilt forward and fall back into the holes. Good Luck

Thanks for the advice! Imatexn - were you fishing with the wire through the bolt holes, or coming through from another access? I can't tell from your post. I have one bolt still accesible; are bolts attached to the hanger? Is there some way to move the missing bolt into position by adjusting the other remaining bolt? Thanks!
