Default First time poster, need some opinions

I set a goal to own a Corvette by 2005, and now it's time to buy. I've been lurking on the forum for a month or so, and would like peoples input on this question.

Im going to purchase a 2002, my only question is to get a coupe or Z06. I'm mainly interested in what people think of having/using the Z06 as a daily driver, with its stiffer suspension, a bit louder interior, etc versus the coupe. Is there maintenance issues that would arise faster in a Z06 versus coupe for daily driving? I would expect to put anywhere from 8-10k miles a year for either, and will most likely keep it for 4-5 years.

Opinions are welcome, I'm mostly interested in long-term outlooks of driving a beast or a semi-beast. Thanks.

My 04 ZO6 is a daily driver & I plan to put about 15K to 20K per year.

Default Get the Z06

If you drive a Z06 first at all, you will want to own the car!!

Huge difference in the car, performance wise.

If you really REALLY want to drive hard. The Z06 is what you want.

Try to drive both cars, enjoy it.

Mine is a daily driver, and I LOVE it, I have a 2002 Black Z06 and I had a 2000 Vert, and a 98 coupe,

GO FOR IT!

Default Coup or Z06

I own a 2002 Z06 and am pleased with everything about the car. I recently sold my 1996 Impala SS because the Z06 would be my preference to drive anywhere, long road trip or around town. The Z06 is actually easier and a lot more fun to drive than the Impala and just as comfortable to me. Have a pickup truck for foul weather driving.

The ride, noise difference is way over stated in my opinion. The ride makes you feel like you are in a true sports car without being rough; just a little more bounce. The coupes are a little smoother making it feel almost like a sedan.

Try to test drive both, same year, and you will buy the Z06

I read all the posts here on the forum and made my decision.

I bought a Z06 without even driving one. I could not be happier or more impressed. I would never go back.

I did the same thing - bought a Z06 two weeks ago sight unseen, without ever driving one.

Yup, same here. Never test drove a C5 period, but always knew I wanted a Z06. My first drive was after I signed the papers and headed home. Turning that key for the first time, easing the clutch out and moving into traffic was magical. I have had ZERO regrets getting the Z. The ride is just fine, at least on the '04. GREAT CAR!

This is my first Vette..I agree with everyone
As you can see from my sig,I've owned some nice cars..But the Z06 is a beast..It is an amazing car This is the only car, that I still own after 2 years of trouble free ownership..I track it about four times a year.It is a great value for the money, relativly inexpensive to mod and customize Go for it

Congrats on your new Z-06. The coupe, convertible, and Z-06 are all great in their own ways but no there is no doubt about it, the Z-06 is a special car that will be talked about for years to come.

Sold my 99 C5. Went to the dealer to drive an 04 Z06. Bought it on the spot. After driving my 99 for 5 years... The Z is a totally different experience... It's a serious machine that can be used everyday... almost everyday...

Why settle for less? The Z06 performance far out wieghs the minor road noise. The handling is fantastic and not rough at all. Describing my car to my friends, I tell them it accelerates as quick as a motorcycle, handles like a race car, and rides like a caddy. I can't imagine owning anything else.

The majority is correct. I looked at both cars and just got my 2003 black Z off the truck on Friday. It's a no brainer if you want a corvette instead of a cruiser.

Owner Of A Z06 For 10 Months And Have 10,000 Miles On It. Its A Daily Driver To Downtown Miami,fl. No Problems Driving. In My Opinion, I Would Only Drive A Z06.

The Z06 is seriously addicting. Noise levels can be improved in the Z by getting a trunk partition. As far as maintenance, I have not seen any indication of Z06 DDs requiring any more maintenance than coupes as long as you drive them similarly.

I question the real difference in road noise; Though the Z is slightly louder the Non-runflat tires are MUCH quieter...

My Z is far from a daily driver, but I sure wish it was my daily driver!
