Default Any downside to roll hoops?

I like the look of the aftermarket roll hoops that are installed with epoxy. Is ther any problems with seat adjustment limits or top cover fitment. Any downside? I have a 99 vert. Not wanted for racing. Thanks

don't think those are useful for track use. that'd be a downside if you're into that sort of thing.

Nope. I bought mine from WCC during their last GP. (only $280 shipped for the chromies I believe.) Theirs are a full 2" diameter. I've seen some others that are smaller and didn't look right to me. The arc is also real nice. I keep my seats all the way back and down and they don't touch. The bars clear the rear window by about 1/2" when opening or closing the top. I would suggest going to a home center and buying the chromed plastic plumbing rings to trim them out. I know, not functional, but so are 3/4 of the mods I see in C5 general. (At least it's not neon EG )

I would be afraid the hoops might get my head in a crash.

I agree with the above. To bad they aren't functional. A roll bar that is functional is fugly. The hoops look great. I saw some at the 10th Anniversary in Bowling Green but they were $500 but were very nice for sure. the WCC ones are nice too.

I have the WCC chrome hoops, and I love them. I get more compliments on the hoops than any other thing about my Vette. Any other than them not being being truly functional, I haven't found a down side to them!

No. Neither will chrome rims, painted FRCs or other "bling". I looked at a few functional roll bars at the Cruise In last year. Not too pretty and I heard one owner tell someone that in order for his to clear the top during opening/closing it had to be uncomfortably close to his head. My guess is that he had a better chance of hurting his head in a non rollover than anyone else. Hopefully I never need a real rollbar.

I think this version is great, but bling only!

The only down side is that, if for back reasons, you want to have your seat some what reclined, the hoops limit how much leg room. If the seat is reclined, the seat cannot go back as far. Here is the write up on my install, hope it helps. (big photos) : http://forums.corvetteforum.com/showthread.php?t=981485

I have someone near me making a set of adjustable hoops. They can be lowered so the top can come up, raised to meat track specs. Bolted in and chrome plated.

It should be done in about 1-2 months. I'll keep you posted.

We are the company that mfgs. and installs the hoops you saw at the NCM 10th ann. Yes they are $500 but tubing diameter and chrome are show quality. They just look right in the car as they fit the seat profile perfectly. Remember, you get what you pay for.
And they are not epoxied in. They are custom fit to each car so clearances are correct.
Come to the B-day Bash and we'll install aset for you. You'll love em.

The hoops go great with the non-functional Z06 side brake air intakes and the adhesive hood scoops.

I think they look great. What's the downside? I don't think there is one.

Got mine from WCC and only thing i don't like is that they set about an inch below the top of the seat....I personally think they should set a little higher...but, still would have bought them even so...
