Default Hypertech Gains?

What type of gains are you all getting with your hypertech programmers?

Any mods? A dyno tune helps alot more for about the same price.

Being installed right now, just the Vararam, with Borla Quad Stingers w/x-pipe. Next a set of 3.42's w/ a Yank 3200 TC.

Have had bad experience with Hypertech tuners. Wish I still had the before and after dyno sheets we did at 21st Cent MC, the car actually lost power!

Suggest you do a LS1 edit w/ dyno tune instead

Default 1-2 tenths

I picked up 1-2 tenths in the qtr mile with a hypertech. Some due to the tuning and some due to changing shift points. Don't buy one new you can get them for less than half price used on the parts for sale forum. If you are not worried about setting your car back to stock when you take it to the dealer I agree with just going somewhere and getting a custom tune with LS1 edit or hptuner or if you have the knowledge and the labtop buy the programs and do it yourself. Hypertech is not so good once you start to mod your car as in headers. At that point you will want to tune it to your mods and hypertech will not do this.

Default hypertech

Do not want to get in a pi$$ing contest but I think the posts saying you will not get any HP gains from a hypertech III are not accurate. It is not the tool that an LS1 edit, hptuner, or a dyno tune that is for sure, but it does add some performance in the qtr mile as far as ET and trap speed so it is adding some horsepower in my experience. I know it was worth close to 2 tenths and trap speed of about 2 mph. I will post below what I remember using it for, like I said before look for a used one for around 100 bucks and it is not a bad buy if all you want is to tune up your stock vette a little. If you are moding with a cold air intake, headers or other bolt ons I would recommend a custom tune of some type.

1. Power tune
2. Speedometer adjustments for tire size change
3. Gear Scaling for auto 2.73-3.15 only
4. Lower cooling fans setting and an option for a lower thermostat
5. Shift point adjustments
6. Rev limiter adjustments
7. top speed limiter for tire type
8. Option setting for an aftermarket shift kit
9. Increase or decrease rev limiter
10. One buttom return to stock setting

I did not use all these options and I sold mine on the forum so I can not double check this there may be a few more options I do not remember. Also do a search there have been quite a few threads on this topic.

Edit: I just looked at the thread again and looking at the mods you are installing you will not benifit from a hypertech III. In particular it will not do your gear scaling correct with the 3.42.
