Anyone had any experience with the reflector stuff that comes in a spray can that is sprayed on front license plate to defeat the cameras or is this just wishful thinking. Not accusing anyone here of speeding and needing such a product of course.
I have heard that the only thing that does work is the clear plastic cover that goes opaque when the flash goes off. Maybe others have heard differently.
I got a photo ticket.. my car was about 3 weeks old.. i was doing 27 in a 25 and went through a red light.. was my fault but the construction had things pretty screwed up and i didnt even see the light for all the other stuff.. any way.. I think they can take pics from both ends of the car..?
It depends on the system. Some systems take photos of the front AND rear of the car. In CO, the speed/light camera convictions carry no point assessments, only fines. Also, in CO, it is illegal to modify, disguise or inhibit the appearance/view of number plates and vehicles must have a front plate.
That being said, my 99 has no front plate (purely for asthetics).
I saw it on NBC news the other night. They were saying that the spray works very well. In fact there are a few states that are trying to make it illegal to use it on your plates.
I have these curved plastic plate covers on my truck that to the eye look normal, but... when taken a photo of they just blur out my plate. I have taken many photos of my truck and every one of them you could not read my plate. Plus they are tinted so when it gets dark out you can't read my plate. Lets see I also shaved my lic plate lights off as well.
Not like I'm hiding anything... You know how them double barrel shotguns look when you off-road a little to far onto some crazy guys property? No? Ok never mind I'm going back into my hole now.
I don't need to hide anything because I never speed...except when I exceed the posted limit...
Me too!
One of the forum members was chiseling out speed bumps, perhaps we should carry a hacksaw and cut down the camera.
These suckers are doing anything to make a buck.
Talked to a highway safety engineer and he said that American roads, interstates were modeled after the Autobahns in Germany (Thanks to Eisenhower) and that safe speeds in 85% of the areas is 100 mph. That's the way they were designed.
Trouble is the AVERAGE driver shouldn't go above 50 as they really don't know what they are doing.
We should petition for a Vette only lane like a diamond lane with a speed limit of 100 or so.
