New vette owner. Just picked up a 2002 Silver Z06. 14K miles. I've always been a f-body guy. Ridden in a vette a couple of times and always dreamed of having one. Its a totally different expierience driving one, thats for sure. Even with all the mods I have done to my Z, the Z06 would lay waste to it quickly. I can feel the mod bug coming soon. Here we go again
Welcome to the CF and congrats on the purchase of a Z06. QS is my favorite color. A few coats of Zaino and you'll see what I mean.
There are two mods you need to do right now. Both will cost you about $75 but will greatly enhance the experience. First get a column lock by-pass kit. I bought mine from Thunder Racing for $55. It's a 30 minute install. This will keep you from getting stranded should the steering wheel lock not UN-LOCK which they are prone to do at thw worst possible location and time. The next mod is a cheapie but worth the $15 to $20. Buy a CAGS elminator. This will allow you to drive, shift and CONTROL the Z to your liking. You control the beast not some computer.
After that your on your own and the sky is the limit. But I will say, a stock Z is a wickedly fast car, most owners become jaded with this car as it goes about it's business effortlessly and without fussing. But add another 25 to 50 RWHP and not only will you have an easy 11 second car but one that should keep you happy, at least for a while. This can be done with about $3200 in mods (BIG cam, LT headers and a tune).
Of course an intake and exhaust will easily net you another 20 RWHP for about $1000 which is what you'll find on most Z's.
Thanks guys. DMV is closed because of the holiday. So I gotta wait to drive it. Its a tease just sitting there waiting.
I read about the column lock bypass. Defintly got to get that one and I since I have a 6 speed on my z28 with the cags eliminator on it, I know exactly what you mean.
Oh the agony of the mod bug. I feel my wallet lighter already and I havent spent a dime

Enjoy your new wheels...you are now a member of a very exclusive club...Z06 owners anonymous. Meetings must be attended regularly and the 12 steps followed so that you can properly handle your new found addiction to speed!
Congrats Brain and Mike. So you know now, there is no known cure for mod-fever. Its an addiction that must be satisfied with mod injections. Yes the treatments are expensive but it keeps the fever down!
Good Luck and Have Fun.
BBZ, I'm pretty sure I know you. I used to have a 97 White Heads Cam Camaro when I lived up near you. Eric Novotney and I came in to the machine shop you worked at and cleaned some flash out of my intake. I wanna say we also rode to MIR togeather. Your girlfriend at the time brought some Crispy Creame Dougnuts... Anyway, welcome to the board and congrats on the Z. Like your Heads Cam Z28, you won't be able to leave your Z06 alone!
