Default Stock Ti vs. Borla #

Hey gang! I just installed my Borla 2-tips this weekend. They are just what the doctored ordered. So far, everywhere I have gone, people are giving me the thumbs up.

In the process of making my decision I read a lot of differing opinions on the weight difference.

Most recently, I read the stock Ti was 19lbs per side and there was a difference of 10 lbs between the Borla.

Well, I am here to tell you that the difference is ONLY 2 lbs per side!!!

The stock Ti weighed in at 13 lbs. and the Borla at 15 lbs.

Thanks for the info The extra couple of lbs wouldn't have bother me anyway, being that, I got what I wanted, when I installed mine about a month ago (That American Muscle Sound, from American Sports Car ) The few lbs never concerned me

You are right, the came then and are still coming You will continue to experience the Enjoy the sound.

Just so you know, after a week or 2, I installed a partition and now I have the luxury of both worlds. I know what the folks outside are hearing

You're right. I did the same thing when I put mine on. I figured about 3lbs. per side, but that was with my fat a-- holding them when I got on the scale. Just remove your cats and you'll make up a lot more than that.

Personally, I'd rather keep the Ti's and spend my $$ on some LT headers. WI have heard the Ti's with LT's and they sound every bit as good as any after market cat-back and have ZERO resonances. The HP/TQ gains from the LT's more than make up for the additional cost.

Think of it this way. You can spend $700 for a cat-back and net about 8 to 10 RWHP. Or you can spend $1500 and net 25 to 35 RWHP/TQ. That's a lot of gain for the additional $800.

Glad you like the sound of the Borla's, but I'd trade that for BIG HP gains anyday.

...Or do both. I have to disagree with you on the stock Ti's sounding the same as Borla's with LT's. Granted, I have an off road X-pipe so my exhaust is even less restrictive, but the Borlas sound much more aggressive than the stock exhaust. I had my stock Ti's on my Z with my Dynatech LT's and Bassani off road pipe, it didn't scare small children and animals like it does now!

I would suggest doing both as well and I agree with Z06 Tom about the sound. Headers can give you about 20 rwhp gain along with a deeper tone. They don't make the car any louder with the Ti system. The sound of the Ti system is not bad when you get a load on it and get above 3,000 to 4,000 RPM but it certainly not loud.

The stingers or the bullets - choose your brand, give it a much louder and deeper sound. At cruise they aren't too much ouder. However, when you put a load on it and get the RPM above 3,000 they get very loud. It certainly is no longer "stealthy'.

The stingers or bullets combined with a good long tube header will get you about 30 rwhp and much deeper and serious tone. It gives it bit of attitude.

Good info on the lbs. Now throw some LTs on there, have cats for inspection (leave off 364 days a year) and enjoy the HP and the huge . I put LGM LTs on my car and picked up 35 RWHP and the torw is huge down low. They are not that load when you behave but when you hit it, it does get agressive but in a great way! Now the mod bug has bit, you will want more!

Did you gain 35 with just the headers, or with the other parts in you sig and the tune?

I thought Cat-Backs don't give a gain in HP since the Tis aren't really restrictive.

They really don't do much, (< 10 rwhp) but in conjunction with LT's you'll see a little more AND scare the neighbors!!
