I just finished removing the stock exhaust pipes, exhaust manifold, and coil packs and alternator, etc, etc. I've been tracking the dynatechs, and they're suppose to be here tommorow! I'm worried about everything. I'm worried I'll have trouble with the o2 sensors, especially the front two. I talked to Tim at Lingenfelter, and he said they could overnight some to me. I gotta have this car at Lingenfelters on the 25th!!! I can sure see why these places like Lingenfelter, and the rest remove the engine to do these mods! I can hardly wait till they remove mine down in Decatur, I just wish I was going to be there to see HER!!!
Cool! Headers are an excellent mod as you know! Glad to see you finally made a choice!
Yea, I just couldn't make up my mind, and there was the money thing too! After adding everything up, I determined that I wouldn't save much doing things myself, especially if I had to buy more tools, (which I would), and plus I would still have to get it somewhere to have it tuned. The headers were already on their way and Lingenfelter's said that it would be illegal for them to install those particular headers. I gave them the 50% deposit today, and I feel relieved. So is my wife!

I just installed mine, be very careful as to how you route the wiring for the O2 sensors, all four. The kit comes with the extensions you need to reach the newly located sensors on the headers. I added additional straps to keep the wires away from the headers. They also provide straps that go to the frame. The headers get very hot and you could easily burn the wires. The O2 sensors were easy, they came right out, remember to use heat resistant anti seize on everything. The instructions call for loosening the starter, I didn't have to. I would also recommend removing the steering shaft. The driver side is the toughest, they install from below, the passenger side installs from the top.
Take your time and be careful of any wires, sensors, etc. when you are trying to put the headers in place.
If you take your time, it's not a hard job, just common sense.
Which particular headers did Lingenfelter's say would be illegal for them to install?
Ed
Dynatech Supermaxx. But, I think it's because the catalytic converters are aftermarket, and they're not in the stock location. So, probably any headers with high-flow cats would be illegal for a shop to install, if you wanted to get technical about it. Which Lingenfelter is/does. I'm glad they're technical about it, it's one of the reasons I'm hiring them to do the job!

Thanks for the good advice!!! Did your stock front sensors work alright? I twisted the wires a little getting them off of the stock manifolds. I think a parts store, or a GM dealer might have them in stock, I'm not sure. I think I'll call around this morning.

Yes, they worked fine, but you didn't have to twist the wires, you should have unplugged them from the connector on the chassis and then unscrewed them. Also, just because you twisted the wires, it does'nt mean you'll have a problem.
