Default problems with Random Technologies hi flow cats?

Thinking about getting these.

http://www.ecklers.com/product.asp?d...487C23E6HCFUB7

But I have read mixed reviews on other car sites.
Was wondering if Vette owners have any feedback.
Thanks.
If not, which cats would your recommend?

I have the 3" on the LG long tubes, and jsut passed emissions, no problems. Are you running headers? These cats are smaller and cool down really fast. The need to be mounted to header to keep them cooking! I have been running mine about nine months now.

I run these with my B&B shotry headers, and B&B PRT exhaust.
I've never had any problems and the car sounds great.

I also have these cats and although I have mine mounted at the header
end of the X pipe LG actually recommends installing them after the X pipe. These cats do not require much heat to make them work and I believe I read that 140f is enough!

Mmmmm I just went through a little exercise on this. I had mine behind the X pipe, and went to get my Calif smog test. It was cold out well, cold by our standards, (in the 40s) I am in N. Calif. they would not pass the idle test. The problem is when sitting and waiting they would cool off too much. When the car is in and under test they have their way and I could not talk them into running the RPMs up to get them hot. (I was a a state inspection center.) They flunked it the first time. I moved them up to the header and they passed with flying colors. Plus I did not notice any performance change. Maybe the TQ range shifted up a few hundred RPMs but for the most part SOP is not noticeable.

Now if it were summer, there may well have been a difference.

I think LG has even changed the procedure and also added the second Bung for the rear 02s to meet Calif. standards.

The guys at the inspection center did tell me that it just barely flunked the first time, so they were prolly working, but just not enough, also they said the margin on the new cars in Calif has really been tightened up, and every thing needs to be spot on to get withing the specs the state is calling for.

All in all, I am happy, the Lil-blue Dragon passed her breath test!

Interesting. In Missouri there are big signs at the emissions testing facilities that tell you to leave the engine running while waiting in line. I assume its to prevent the problem you had.

Yep, and you guys get super cold out there, so I imagine that it would affect the bigger cats that would normally hold the heat here!

Here you park it and give them the keys and they pull it out of the parking lot and onto a mini-dyno (set of rollers) Then shut it off again to get things hooked up. Calif, is a bitch that way, they actually try to put the car in the worse possiable position to pass. I was going nuts, as I have all the bolt-ons and a 2:73 gear set and for the rolling test they would let it shift up to third and then lug it because that little dyno will not let them run it up. I asked that they put it in second and they said it needed to be in drive. Crap , at highway speed at 80 MPH it only turns 1900 RPM can you imagine in third at 35 MPH she is lugging and rich as a bitch! I don't even think it was getting into closed loop operation. I mean they did everything from lugging it to letting is sit.

I think they knew I had mods and were looking to hold it tight and then blame the mods to flunk it. Good thing I did the pretest which is where she failed the first time and I was at a different shop the second time, but they were both state inspection stations.

BUT! IT DID PASS!!! And they could not say squat!

Though I have not tried to pass emissions with them, I don't suspect any problems.
