I have a 04 and love it. It is amazing how fast you get used to the power. I now find I want to mod it.

If you are going to mod it, then the 01 is probably the best bet. Lower initial cost. If you are going to keep it stock, then I would go with the 02. 20hp is not that much to worry about and you are their with headers on the 01.

Thanks everyone!

Ok so I'll go hunting for an 02. Shame I just found a nice red 01 with 7800 miles. Original owner and garage kept. It looks new. I can get it for just under $30K, possibly $28K if I pushed it. That is without trading my car.

Jim,
Nope haven't driven a Z06 yet. A couple of 00/01 ragtops and coupes.
I looked at your car over in the for sale section. It does look nice and the GMPP plan and price are attractive. Silver is not really the color I want. Good luck with your sale though.

Hey Z06'rs. Well I found it! After looking for a few months. I did go for QuickSilver after all once I looked at it closely. Even though I was pretty set on Electron Blue. The price was very attractive also.

The clincher was it was loaded, HUD, memory pkg, etc. I did get an 02 Z06 in QuickSilver with black interior and 13K miles. Only part ever replaced was the battery because it didn't get used for a period of time.

It has been very well taken care of. Always garaged. There is not ONE pit on the nose or hood from being driven on the road. I'm amazed after looking at the front of m92. Never raced or beat on. The owner said he got it to about 130 in 4th once and realized it was too fast

I'm on vacation now. I'll be picking the car up at the end of the month and will post pictures once I get it home and settled in.

Oh yeah, and I did drive it and it is intoxicating

Thanks for the feedback and ideas folks. Talk to you soon.

Graham (a new Z06'r)

I have an 04 and I had a chance to race an 01 while my car and his car where stock, and I pulled him like on tommorrow, so that is something ot think about. Also the HUD is another thing to think about, cause they sure are nice.

Congrats and QS is a very easy color to care for. I spend much more time behind the wheel than a sponge. I found a photo going around of someone's QS Z with the new Z07 style wheels and tinted glass. Take a look, that puppy is hot:

Good luck and let the mods begin.

Congrats on joining the "Silver" Z06 community. I still can't tell the difference between Machine silver and Quicksilver..

Those wheels look nice on that Z !

Thanks folks I'm psyched

I'm in St. Petes, FL right now taking a much needed break from work. The upside is when I return from vacation instead of being dissapointed that it wasn't long enough. I'll be picking up my Z06 March has turned out to be a very good month...

I have the Z06 video with me and have been watching it. Now I know why the HUD didn't look that great at first. The video says that if you wear polarized sunglasses you may have problems with it. Well I have prescription polarized lenses...

Let the mods begin, yeah I hear that! I'm ordering the Cags and the Column lock defeat this week so they'll be at home when I get the car.

Now I have to get my92 coupe ready for sale. I'm going to miss her. She's been a great car and lots of fun.

The best reason to go for the 02 is the HUD, so if you're not a big fan that makes the decision easier. I've owned both a 01 and a 02 Z06; they're both great cars and in the real world there isn't much difference (beyond the HUD). The extra 20 HP on the 02 is mostly above 4500 rpm and the handling differences are very subtle. I'd base my decision on what you'll end up doing with the car. If you want to keep it stock go with the 02, if you want to get into some serious mods then go for the 01.

Buy an 01. EVERYONE DOES AN INTAKE AND HEADERS. So there really is no difference. Take the money that you saved on the 01 and buy a forged short block(346-402) for $3,500-6,000. Done. Bigger than will cost you much more.

Come play with me and I will show the the true meaing of fast on the track(9's) and on the roadcourse. I have an 01 and a $70 shiftlight.
