I need some help. I have 2000 Y2K rims and I wanted to get a thicker tire. Is anyone out there running 265/17's up front and 295/18's in back on the Y2K rims? I know they would fit, but would they rub or stick out too much? Thanks for your help.
Demonio,
I have to disagree with shurite, although to paraphrase an ex-president, it may be a function of how he's defining "just fine". Those tire sizes (Z06 sizes) will fit your rims, but it is not an ideal match - the rims are a tad narrow for those tire sizes. You can still drive on them, etc., but I don't believe you will get the best performance from those tires installed on those width rims (8.5" and 9.5"). Good luck.
Thanks Wamara, that is what I have been hearing. Even though they will fit, no one recommends them on the thinner rims. Now let's see if i can get a good deal on some rims. Thanks again.
You didn't mention the aspect ratio you have in mind for those tires (or if your car is lowered), so it's impossible to say if they will rub. However, the manufacturer websites and the online tire calculator recommend against such a wide tire size on those factory rims (8.5" F, 9.5" R).
