Traction is becoming more of an issue as my mods increase….Better compound tires that are wider are in my future. I am trying to narrow down rim and tire size. I’m leaning towards House of Wheels 2006 Z06 type wheels in the 18X9.5 front and 18X11 rear. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/showthread.php?t=961496
Any pictures of these wheels or 11s would be appreciated. I’m concerned with the rear wheels sticking out past the fender.
What size tires would work well? I’m concerned about the Active Handling/ Traction Control issues due to the larger diameter rim in front.
I would recommend 265/35/18 for the front and 295/35/18 for the rears on those wheels. BFG gForce KD or (KDW if you ever drive in the rain) is a great tire with great traction. You could also go with 305/35/18 Nitto NT555R drag radial in the back and NT555 (265/35/18) in the front for even better traction, but even shorter tire life (at least for the rear tires). A third option, with more tread life and better for daily driving would be the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2. I have purchased a set of OEM Z06 wheels that I will be using one of these tire combos (except with 255/40/17 in front) for open road racing, and later for normal street use. If I get the Nittos, I'll probably get the NT555RII, though.

Reason: correct tire size
Would 315 be too wide for the 11 inch rims? I would like to go wide for the looks and wouldn't they help with traction? I realize that going too wide on a rim is counter productive to traction. I'm not sure if that tire size is too wide for the rim.
If you want a 315 it only comes in a 30 series flavor. To match this size, you need either a 265/35 or a 285/30 for the front.
Also the wheels are not available at HofW, AFAIK. Get them from Nate at www.corvettegarage.com
Do the 315/30 series look much lower in profile and how about the clearence between the fender and rubber? the stock 275/40 have more clearence than I like as is. I know I could lower the car to take care of that but my driveway doesn't allow for it
