Default Oil change

This is the first time i am going to change my oil by lifting the car with a floor jack. I bought a low profile jack to get under the car.But i have seen the pads for liffting the car in mid america. I was woundering if it is really nessesary to do that. Thanks, Bud

I would recommend them...you could probably find something else to use instead.

I hope you are also going to use jackstands. No, jacking pucks are not necessary if you place two jackstands under both the front and rear crossmembers. Here is a little tutorial for lifting without the pucks.

good luck and please be safe under there.

Use a block of wood, 2 x4 etc, and jack by using the front cross member. Span the ribs with the wood block to spread the load and you will be fine.

I like doing it without the pucks as stated above. So much easier. And stable.

I don't know if I would trust the Z's method with the 2x4's. It seems as tho that would be so unstable and not worth the chance of having a 3000+lbs car either slipping and cracking the support or even worse falling lower.
