I just cleaned my Blackwing filter.. When I went to spray the oil on, it did not spray like we know a spray should. Not a fine spray but rather a stream.. I proceeded to oil it.. Should it have been a fine spray or a steady stream like? What if I got too much on it?
Paula,
My only thought, if you're concerned about too much oil, is to try and absorb the excess with something like cotton batting or a soft cloth - let it rest on the filter or pat very gently, as you want to avoid bending the pleats of the filter. Good luck.
Hmmm, on my '96 vette which had a K&N filter, too much oil would foul up the MAF. Wouldn't the same happen if too much oil was added to the Blackwing on my C5?

Could very well. Some people here have reported fouling their MAF with excess oil - don't recall/know what brand of filter they had on their cars.
It's oil out of an aerosol can. Hence, the lack of atomization.
Cover as much of the filter as you feel comfortable doing. Let the filter set for at least an hour, then reapply to any bare spots. The entire filter should be dark blue. Let the filter set at least overnight. Wipe down the rubber and any overspray or puddling with a towel. Good luck.
