This afternoon I drove over to the local KIA dealer to check out an old Mustang that my 15 year old thought he might be interested in as a first car.
I parked in front of the main entrance and when I walked in all of the salesmen were lined up looking out at my Vette and several of them said at the same time "Nice Corvette"
Yes brothers and sisters, LIFE AS A VETTE OWNER IS GOOD!
My 15 yr old just turned 16 last week and got his car 5 days ago. If you are thinking about a Mustang, even a 6 cyl, might talk to insurance company first. It is (in Texas) rated only one category lower (19) than my vette (20). My Tahoe on the other hand is rated category 12.
He ended up with a Misubishi Eclipse RS (not the GT or Spyder), and it's rate category is a 17 with a 16 yr old, which they add some hokey factor into it..
Bottom line on the 2000 Eclipse (still somewhat considered a sports car) is making me cough up $3850 / yr and that is on a $9500 car! Because my vette is pleasure only, I get it at $700/yr, and my Tahoe is around $850 or so.
Shop cautiously! If you can take the hit on Liability only, that's the way to go. I may do that after his first year solo in it. Everyone says "he's gonna wreck it"....so after his first claim, Liability only!
Here comes the judge, Here comes the Judge....zippity do dah!
OH, and YES...it IS nice to be recognized as a Corvette Owner! Priceless.
One day this guy pulls into the service station I was in just as I was pulling out in the EB coupe, blocking the way for me to pull out onto the street. Just as I was about to get mad, he rolls down the window and gushes about how he thought my car was the most beautiful Corvette he'd ever seen - and went on and on - just drooling about how purty it is... So I didn't get mad!!! Feels pretty good! Vettes do that... yes they do. But most importantly they sure are fun to drive!!!

..............Plus your car is worth more than all the KIA'S in the showroom combined...
