Default CD Changer,Please Help

Has anyone put a factory changer or know of someone who has put a changer in there vette that did not have one form the factory.

Thanks to VinnyG I have a changer coming for my vette and I was told that all the wiring is already back there for the changer. My question is:Are all head units the same or is there a special head unit to control the changer?Since I do not have a changer will the factory changer plug into the wires in the back and work with my factory head unit?

Thanks

You should be OK. Does your HU has an "AUX" button? That's the button that switches the HU to the CD changer. Have you checked the rear center compartment in the back for the wiring??? If your car was not ordered from the factory with a CD changer, you won't have the harness that goes to the back. If it's not there, you will need an additional harness to run from the passenger footwell to the back.

RCK1999 is correct,

if your car DID NOT come from the factory with the 12 disk changer then you will need to order the harness, the connectors for the CD Changer harness are located near the fuse panel in the passenger side footwell, all you will need to do is run the harness from the footwell to the rear center compartment (that's where the CD Changer will be mounted.)

you will have the AUX button on your radio wether it's a CD or cassette radio.

with all of the above. You have the two plugs in the pass footwell, but probably don't have the cable to the back, or the mounting bracket. See this link: GM 12 Disc CD Changer

It is a review of the installation by myself and 2 others.
