Well guys i am anxiously waiting for my Iforged 19/20s.. they should be here in about 3 more weeks
I sold my stock wheels along with the sensors last year DOH!... I want to install sensors on my new wheels... How much am I going to spend on new vs used used sensors?
1997-2000 will run you new about $370 bucks for 4 sensors. 2001-2004 will cost about 100 bucks less than that.
i dont know about used. probably depends on how old they are. if they are a couple of years old it is best to just buy the new ones because the battery life in the sensors ranges from 6-8 years.

I found it cheeper to buy a tire and wheel combo. I just bought a set of Chrome wagon wheels with good tires and sensors for $450 total with shipping from another forum member.
You cannot use the newer 01-04 style sensors, they will not work on earlier cars.
Since you are mounting them in Iforged wheels, you do not need to order the nut or O-ring for the sensors.
Since you have a few weeks, keep an eye on the parts forum...these come up for sale quite often. You now know what new ones will cost ya, finding a set of good used ones for $200 or less is quite common.
Buying a refurbished set from http://www.nericreations.com with brand-new batteries installed might be another option worth pursuing.
I'm putting new tires on my 98 so I bought 4 from Fred Beans for $346.46. I have my old ones (still work perfectly but they're 7 years old) for sale if ya want them. I'm asking $63,275.99 each but will take $125 shipped for all 4...

I wonder how difficult it is to replace the battery myself? anyone done this? If thats the case ill buy the sensors from C54Dan and replace the battery..but at being 7yrs old I was told they only last 7-8 yrs good reason to be changing them huh C54Dan
Thanks...
I sold my wheels/tires to a forum member, he didn't need the sensors and told me he would send them back to me. That was months ago, no answer on his phone, I got beat....
So I was going to get new but, I'm still up in the air. Can you shut off the message on the DIC???

People have done it...but most of them also broke a lot of sensors in the process of figuring it out.
If you can crack the case cleanly, and don't mind digging through a lot of potting compound to get to the battery, and are willing to destroy some sensors in the learning process...give it a try.

I thought i read somewhere that there is a way.. not sure though...someone will chime in
If running with NO sensors on an older model... the DIC will throw messages up. Fine.. can deal with that for short period.
BUT, if another issue comes up, will the new message override the TPS DIC message? Like Low Level, Can you view / scroll thru other parts of the system?

I have to hit reset every time I crank up my 98 with no sensors. It's kind of annoying, but I have to change it from kilometers to miles every time I crank it as well, so it's not $375 annoying.

They are going to cost you about $350-$400. I see them advertised in the parts for sale section often for less, but you will have to consider whether they will last a long time or not - the batteries do go out after about 5-7 years. Try dealers like Fred Beans Pontiac or Fichtner Chevy for prices.
