in the middle of my move from home in ga to florida, the packers had junk all in the garage and i had to park woohooo (my c5 vert) outside. it was pouring rain, i was distracted and not a little harried, but extremely so.
got in the gr cherokee to leave and backed right into the rear quarter panel of my baby, driver's side. it is totally broke above and below the marker light.
i'm just lucky that's all that appears hurt, i guess. i hit HARD. of course the bumper on the grand is none the worse for the wear.
wonder what a new quarter panel is gonna run.....
ps the only way i'd have cried more (yes, i cried) is if i'd hit HOOTERS (my 68 vert.)
oh, so yall can further cry along with me, look what else happened in the move.
Ooo, so sorry to hear that. Looks like you get to meet a local body shop as soon as you're settled in. My mom backed into my bumper two weeks after i got my car, she looked like a ghost when she came in to tell me what she had done. When's the settling in party?
You only have to be distracted one short time for something bad to happen... sorry to hear about that. If you only hurt the panel, it shouldn't be too big of a deal. Good luck.
I've done the same thing (not in my Vette, but another car) ... it happens to the best of us.
Let your insurance pay ... that's what we have it for, and it probably won't even raise your rates. I'm surprised the quarter panel is only $400. Of course, you have to get it painted which will probably cost that much too.
I did it in my Mitsubishi 3000 ... scuffed and cut the rubber bumper. Cost about $600 and there were no parts replaced, just repair.
Sorry to hear about it. I did something similar just last Thursday - but in my DD. I was backing my Toyota Avalon out of the driveway to make room to wash my Z and not paying close attention. Backed right into the fire hydrant and hosed the bumper. I felt like an idiot but immediately thanked the Lord that I wasn't in the Vette.
I know you were pizzed off and madder with yourself! Don't cha hate when that happens? Well, look on the bright side, you could have done a lot more damage. It will be fixed like new and I promise, I will not tell a soul!
I heard about thsi the other day....bummer but chances are it can be fixed.
I cracked mine up in Novembe in the same area and I fixed it looks good as new and did not have to replace he quarter.
Good luck....hope all is going well in Fl......and your avatar is STUNNING
