MAYBE........you got lucky and the Boys knew how to wash it correctly. When I was 19 my cars were always spotless. Let's hope they knew more than he did!

Good Luck and relax.......although it'll take some work, 3M SMR will take care of any light marks.

I have some great friends too but would never allow them to drive and/or store Red Racer. As good of friends as we are, they simply are not "car-guys" and, while I'm sure they'd do their best, it just wouldn't be good enough for me.

I can see it now:

"Where did that scratch come from?" "Oh, it's just a little one; you can barely see it!"

or

"What's that ladder doing leaning up against my car?" "Oh, I set it very gently against the fender. You can barely see the mark it left."

or

"Why is your car parked so close to mine?" "Oh, it's OK. My little kids were real careful with the door when they got out of the back seat."

The worst part is that you can't say much because he was doing you a favor.

Find someplace else to park ASAP.

He is a Vette owner as well. He lets trusted employees/kids take
it out for a drive and wash it. OK...that may be a little hard to swallow
but you did entrust him with the car.

Then you have a dream and come up with a reason to be pissed.

I don't get it. You are assuming the worst that "Oh my God, there
are some swirl marks in the clear coat."

Sorry to say, but no matter what you use and how you use it, you
will yourself get swirl marks and minor scracthes no matter how
careful and attentive you are. That's why there are car care products
such as Zaino and others.

Get over it, it's only a car.
I knew there'd be at least one flamer here...

Okay, here's the deal. I don't have a problem with him driving the car. I really don't even have a problem with him letting the boys take a run up the street and back. My first problem is him giving the boys both his and my car and letting them road race them to find out for sure whose is faster. And that's really not even a "problem", it's more of an uneasy quirk. I thought he'd have a little better judgement than that.

My second quirk, which I do classify as a problem, is that none of them have the cleaning/detailing supplies that I or most of us have for our cars, with the delicate paint jobs.

The last time he and I went to the car wash, he drove his 05 Suburban and used the suds brush on it. When he finished, he attempted to use the same brush on mine.

I'm not calling him a jerk or anything like that, just uninformed, like most of us were before the Forum gave us the insight on exterior care and do's and dont's.

You happen to be one of the members that doesn't have a problem with your car being scratched/swirled up. I happen to be one of the ones that do.

Why store the car so far away from your house. I would be a wreck if my car was that far from me.

and BTW, I would NEVER EVER leave a set of keys for my VETTE. How do you know he didn't abuse the car or the engine or tires.

I would get your car back before something else happens

I guess the lesson learned is - if you want it done right, do it yourself Hope when you see the car it is not what you fear.

Sorry to be piling on but I couldn't resist. Sounds like your more concerned with potential swirls than the fact your friend took advantage of the situation and loaned out the car to his kids, who then raced it

Thank goodness there was no accident where somone was hurt....and then they come looking for you and your insurance company. Your a better man than me, I would be fuming about the situation

Man after reading that I had to go check on my car and it's just outside my front door. Hope everything works out for you, but he wouldn't ever keep my car again.

I personally would have a problem letting any one drive my car much less a friends kid! Some friend! The only person to drive mine was my daughter (34 year old) and I was with her when she did. If her hubby didn’t have a Z and she drives it I probably wouldn’t have let her drive mine!
Just think what would have happened if they had had a wreck! Scary!

Thank him for the storage and go get it home. Its not worth the stress your putting yourself through. He and his sons have no respect for your car. Best of luck.
