Default Help with Code

Coming to work this morning, the check engine light came on. I checked the codes and only found one - PCM P0410 - Both History and Current. What does this mean and what action if any should be taken? I cleared the code and so far, the light has remained off.

Thanks

P0410 AIR System --- I think it has to do with the air pump. Others will chime in with more.

Here's a site I've found helpful to begin decphering OBD II codes:

http://www.diagnosticdialog.com/LookupCode.asp

For this code all it says is 'air system'

The two web sites that I looked at didn't offer any more information than what you've already received.

http://www.stengel.net/diccodes.htm
http://www.corvettedoctor.com/Codes_Page.htm

But I got this by doing a Google search......

P0410
1. That is dealing with the AIR system. Possibly a check valve.

Circuit Description:

An AIR pump is utilized on this vehicle to lower tail pipe emissions on start-up. The PCM supplies a ground to the AIR pump relay, which energizes the AIR pump.

The PCM monitors the HO2S voltages to diagnose the AIR system.

During the AIR test the PCM activates the AIR pump during closed loop operation. When the AIR is activated, the PCM monitors the HO2S voltages and short term fuel trim values for both banks of the engine. If the AIR system is operating properly, the HO2S voltages should go low and the short term fuel trim should go high.

If the PCM determines that the HO2S voltages for BOTH banks did not respond as expected during the tests, DTC P0410 sets and your looking at a pretty amber SES on your dash.

Tests - Check AIR pump fuse. Inspect for intermittent shorts to ground or connections, if the AIR pump functions properly. Inspect the circuits for a short to ground between the AIR pump fuse and the AIR pump relay. Also inspect the circuit for a short to ground between the splice and the AIR solenoid valve.
As an option, you could consider getting that deleted through LS1 edit (or comparable software).

Hope this helps.....

Thanks guys. Now if I only knew where the air pump is and what it looks like, as well as this relay. This does help tho. I appreciate it. The forum is great as always.
