Z06 problem please help
Hi all,
I have a 2001 Z06 and I don't get to drive it much because I am never home (I think I have 15K miles on it).
The problem started last year and I didnt do anything about it. I don't know too much about the engine and performance parts so please dont make fun for my lack of proper car word usage.
Eveytime I shift gears, I hear a sound that sounds like a horese galloping with its horseshoes. It usually occurs when I am in the lower gears. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Can anyone diagnos it for me and help me find a solution.
Thanks

Probably your clutch. Does the shift go in smooth or is it hard to get into gear?

I think what you are describing is the pressure plate wieghts that move around for balance. These have a tendancy to rattle and is normal for the Z06.
I'm no expert though so my thoughts are always suspect.

From: Los Angeles, CA.... I know a guy who has a Lambo with Corvette doors
That's not a great description of the problem. You might want to take a drive over to A&A to get it checked out.

Gee...maybe it's the sound of the mustang ya just blew by. After this happens, do you sometimes hear someone scream "aw sh%t, that was a Z06"?

I wonder if he is hearing the famous exhaust deceleration bells ringing from the H pipe.
