Default Switching to Ceramics...advice, please!

I just bought some ACDelco Ceramic pads for my 2004 Coupe. I am getting tired of cleaning dust every time I take it out. I don't race and I don't drive my baby hard. I've read here that someone posted that if you make a change like that, you have to either re-surface the pads or get new rotors. Is this true? I really didn't want to remove the rotor guards, as they are on there incredibly tight, and besides, no one around where I live resurfaces rotors anymore, so I'd prob have to buy new rotors. The rotors I have now only have 2000 miles on them, so I hate to spend another few hundred bucks. What'll be the results if I don't do this? Has anyone just switched pads?

Thanks, folks!

You should be able to use the rotors you have already.

I don't see that you'll have any problem!

Have switched pads only on two C5's. No problems.

As a general "rule of thumb" and note I stated general the rotors should not need to be resurfaced unless they are deeply scored or warped causing brake pulsation, the main reason for machining is to assure/maintain a flat parallel surface. I have replaced many pads w/o turning rotors with mileage in excess of 35k as long as neither condition exists.
Ceramic pads are a harder composition than semi-metallics and would take longer to conform to any rotor irregularities. I doubt you'll have a problem, if you have any pulsation you will need to resurface and/or replace rotors. Unless you live in a heavily congested area replace the pads and take it out for a test drive.

Just install the pads and off you go. No need to do anything to the rotors.

The procedure is, you bed new rotors with old pads, and you season new pads with old rotors...

I put on the AC Delco ceramic pads last summer and absolutely love them. Dust reduced at least 95%. I also put on the AC Delco drilled and slotted rotors at the same time. If you're checking out prices on rotors be sure to check Fitchner's, a sponsoring dealer.

I swapped to ceramic 6 months ago, and have put two track events on them and they work great... A whole lot less brake dust....
