I have an '01 Z06. the active handling/traction control warning has been coming on. not sure what the problem may be. sensor? has this happen to anyone before? if so, what was the problem and how much did it cost to fix it? thanks.
I was getting a variety of errors, wound up having to replace the brains of the active handling system. Covered by warranty thankfully, I believe the module they replaced was $1600 just for the part.
Check the wheel sensors at all four corners to make sure the plug didn't get loose. Once after having an alignment done, I was getting ABS/TC/AH warnings and it turns out the guy knocked the front driver's side wheel sensor plug loose. PLugged it back in and everything was fine.
If it says "active handling warming up," it is normal but doesn't occur very often unless you are in the habit of turning the steering wheel sharply soon after you start the car and get it moving.
Had an issue with my C5 similar to that. Same issue of a wheel speed sensor. Luckily replaced under warranty. Happened when I backed out of the driveway in the morning and turned the wheel while moving.
The "Service Active Handling" warning came on in my 01' vert, took it to the dealer. They informed me that my battery was going bad and caused this warning to flash in my DIC. Personally I thought it was weird, but I went with a Optima red top, problem solved. However I had to take it back to the dealer to get the code cleared.
By the way, the dealer wanted close to $250 to replace my battery. Ten minutes and $110 later I installed the Optima myself. A friend at the dealer did me a favor on resetting the code.

I saw the "Service Active Handling" one time after i did a few harmless doughnuts (just one time!) at about 3am in a church parking lot. When i posted this, someone here responded that "God was punishing me by doing doughnuts in front of his house at 3am". Well, after shutting the car off, and starting it back up- there were no more codes...and there hasn't been one since. This was probably 8 months ago. BTW, i had the traction control off when i was goofing off (obviously).
Yes, check the battery first. When the battery is low, it throws these messages even when there's nothing wrong. Did it on mine. A charge of the battery and service was resumed as normal.

i have gotten that message before, but thats not my concern. that message has only come up a couple times and goes away quickly. my car has been in the garage over the winter so i havent driven it lately where i remember the exact warning. however, i believe its something like " check active handling/traction control", "service soon." any thoughts? thanks.

Good luck!

thanks. ill check the battery's charge, and if its low ill replace it. it seems fine, but ill give it a look anyways.

So long as the warning message (1) clears itself and (2) occurs only very occasionally, it's nothing to worry about. Sometimes a sensor gets confused or a communication path is disrupted momentarily.
If, on the other hand, the warning stays on through several engine restarts and refuses to clear itself, then take it to the dealer. In this case, a common root-cause is a bad wheel speed sensor.
