I remember when I was checking out my Vette before I bought it, I was trying to lift the console lid and it was difficult. I didn't want to break it before I even bought it, so the owner showed me how. Kind of funny now. It helps to be gentle the first time.
I had the same problem. It's quite the hinge. You'd think they could have made something a bit less complicated. But it's a Vette so let's blow the load on the console hinge.
Hey everyone, I bought my 02 QS vert last September. I noticed on my first fill up, the center console only opens about half way and feels like its binding on something, is this normal? It's not a pressing issue since I can't really store much in there to begin with and I can get to the fuel door release.
Just wondering if anyone else has had a similar issue.
thanks,
brian
I had the same prob a couple of months ago until I used a very SMALL amount of WD40 on the overdesigned hinge pins. I used a "needle" oiler. Worked like a charm. Hep

it's like riding a bike, once you get, you'll never forget... funny thread, because it is tricky the first time
exactly, had same problem with mine when i first bought it...thought that was the way it opened and tehn read in here about lubing it and pulling it toward you...no problems now
I bought my C 5 last January and it is virtually the same as what you describe. According to the Chevy dealer, that is the way that they came. Seems to bind when you pull it up.
Hope I'm not hurting anyones feelings here. But 2 pages on how to open the center console. Come on folks it's not friggin brain surgery. Now the cigarette lighter now thats a diffrent story

There you go.
Instead of figuring out how to properly open the lid and explaining it to you, they make up some lazy-azz excuse for it not "working right."
