Default XM/Sirrius Installations

Sorry, I got nothing from the search. Please give me some information about the units installed and locations as well as WHERE the antenna has been installed (I prefer that it not be on the glass or roof).

Got my XM commander permenantly mounted in my ash tray console so the lid can close and it still looks stock. As far as the antenna, I have it in the rear bumper facia sitting on top of the rear bumper mount. It works pretty good, still fades out from time to time, but it beats having it up on the roof. Here are some pics.

I have basically the same install. The XM Commander control in the ashtray space. The control box under the passenger seat. The system hardwired by a professional installer into the ignition circuit. The antenna in the passenger side inner tail-light on the frame. See the following pictures.

I did drill a hole to allow the antenna cable to enter the rear hatch area. I also did the Dynamat Extreme install at the same time to make the most out of the hidden wire installation process.

I get occasional, transient drop-outs with the antenna mounted inside the rear fascia, but minimal. Nice invisible install.

Good luck...the XM is great (IMHO).

Looking forward to MLB this season on XM.

I have the commander in the ash tray. Hardwired to the head unit. Ant on the windshield with a drop of silicone. Works great!

I just installed my SIRIUS STARMATE in my C5 yesterday....
The StarMate is about the size of a pack of smokes, but that is the entire unit, no other unit is hidden under the seat or anything.

I have a small support that comes up from the right side of the console. I used this for my MP3 player, and it works great.

I did not want to cut my power cord up, so i used a couple of compression splicers (you just press it together with a pair of pliers, no cutting) to install a third power plug that I keep inside the console itself with the power adapter plugged in to it. I tapped the existing power plug inside the console cover. It worked out better than I had hoped.

I put the new, tiny antenna on my dash up by the passenger corner and hid the wire. The only thing showing is the actual antenna nub. I get 100% reception and it did not drop out on me even one time yesterday on the test drive.

I also tie the sound in to the PIE connector that plugs in to the CD-Changer plug. I also had this from the MP3 player already installed. I will post a better right-up when i take some photos

I have the XM Commander and its installed like the others in the ashtray. The antenna is dead center on the dash where it meets the windshield!

Same here, in the ashtray location with the lid still in place (mine's a vert, so I wanted to hide it). Antenna under the dash somewhere. It does get bad reception every once in a while, but overall a really good set-up.

That's the way I am going. No antenna, no wiring (except for power) and I can move it from vehicle to vehicle including the boat and motorhome.

I wish Sirius made a wireless antenna.. I bought the sportster plug-n-play for my daily driver and plan to move it into my vette on weekends.

I recently purchased a MyFi and I have no complaints. You'll enjoy it.

Installed a Sky Fi 2 in my vette. Velcro'd the unit on the cup holder lid (with the pivoting adapter that was included). Ran the antenna under carpet through storage area and out through a hole I drilled in the inner tail light (sealed hole with silicone). Antenna now on the metal "bumper" under the rear fascia. Works well. It is really out of the way more than the photo shows. I am happy with the arrangement.
