This year I finally decided to use a Battery Tender. Go to storage to start car today and all I get is a click. GREAT!! Looked at tender and the red light is on meaning it is charging. WTF. O.k......the Delco has died on me at a show before B/C I do not drive the vehicle often. Mostly used for shows. And when hood or doors are touched the lights go on and stay on for a minute or so. Anyway.... B/C of the bad feedback about the Delco's leaking, I was always paranoid about it . Replaced the 3 year old battery with a Die Hard and didn't even have to turn the key and it started. Hooked up the tender and went back 3 hours later and red light still on. Disconnected it and will be taking it back tomorrow. I guess I get peice of mind knowing I got rid of a Delco that could possibly leak and have been noted to leak and also had the opportunity to put a protective mat under the battery.
OK, I'm confused - where does the BT fail? It sounds like you went to storage, found the battery dead, replaced it and hooked the BT to it, 3 hours later the red light is still on. Is that what happened?

I have the BatteryMinder (basically the same thing). I would first try hooking up a 'real' charger to it and see if that helps. It could be the battery is bad, and your Battery Tender is fine. These chargers are supposed to help lengthen the life of batteries, but that does not necessarily mean the Battery Tender is bad. A broken cell to cell connection in the battery for example can cause a battery to die, making a Batter Tender useless.
Check your battery out first before you go returning your Battery Tender.
Battery was dead with Tender attached. Changed battery with New Die Hard. Then Started car. Attached tender again, usually red light goes to green in couple minutes. Still on Red 3 hours later. Maybe the battery is dropping a volt and I just happen to see it red. I don't know. Guess I'll have to wait and see. Now the question is...Is there anything wrong with a Die Hard??

I've had the red light stay on for well over three hours on my battery tender. I leave it that way in the evening, and by the morning the green light is on. In your case, it might mean that the new Die Hard didn't have a full charge on it when you hooked up the battery tender.
Right now the only thing I can figure is my Delco was so low it couldn't regain a charge even with battery tender attached. I see that the tenders are touchy and want to maintain a constant full charge. In the case of the Vette with the computer, I guess the light will be Red most of the time! I did leave the Tender attached while the car was running and it went green..then red then to green. WHATEVER!!!!
