I have a 2002 vet with 26000 miles. The belt is beginning to squeak . You hear it when you stop at a light . The Dealer said i should replace the belt and the spring arm . The sound is not real bad yet . Is their any thing i can do -such as put something on the belt or can i actually adjust the spring leaver ? Comments please .
I used dielectric grease. It works great. And unless you see the belts deteriorating ie: cracks an stuff like that the belts should last 50k at least. I think they say to change them at 100k or something in that neighbourhood. But try the grease it works. And it's good for the rubber. My .02

Try a Goodyear Gatorback belt first.
That's what fixed mine, and that was after I replaced the tensioner - which had no effect.
Look around the site....there was a link to a site selling them for I think 17.99. I ordered mine fom Autozone.com for 26.99.....but even at that price it was money well spent.
