Maybe. But whats the point in that. Anyone can through the vents and badges on a car. If you were going to swap for an LS6 i would imagine it would not be worth it. Not to mention that if you did you couldn't really prove it. That and the fact that it would still be just a convertible, not a Z06 Convertible. Also it was just a very fun project.
The convertible conversion itself was suprisingly easy. After doing it once i could do it again much faster. The hardest part of the conversion was getting the original roof of of the Z06. The part that took us all winter was the paint. If not for that we could have had it done in a couple of months just working saturdays.

I hope you didn't take my post in the wrong way..... I think it is awesome....
I guess I was just inquiring about your motivation for a project like this....I assume you wanted a "Z06 convertible". I guess I don't understand your ''just a convertible" statement.
I went w/ a convertible because the Z06 is obviously a fixed roof....and more power and handling is easily attainable in either a Z06 or vert. Modding my vert was a cheaper route than chopping the top....
I didn't mean to sound like i took offence. Sorry. I was just explaining why we did what we did.
There is nothing wrong with a convertible. I didn't mean it like that.
I'm actually more of a hard top guy myself but my father in law (who's car this is) loves convertibles and has always wanted a Z06 so we just put 2 and 2 togeather.

Just one question: Wouldn't it have been easier to take a vert and transform it into a Z06?
I'm thinking no. You've got the motor, tranny, seats, cluster, wheels, tires, springs, anti-roll bars, shocks, steering rack. That is a hell of a lot of stuff to change out!
Was the car a theft recovery or was it re-built after a crash? I just noticed all the differnt color panels and was wondering. The car looks great. Nice job...

From the beginning of June 04 till last week. Working thursday nights and saturdays. We screwed up the paint on a few pannels more than once and had to do them over. I just added it up and we each have around 400+ hours in to this thing.
