Default Help installing HUD

I've noticed there have been a lot of pre 00 model year C5 owners out there that have wanted to upgrade to HUD, but, like myself, are scared to death of taking the dash apart. Are there any veterans of dash removal, cutting, and reinstalling that could offer their services? I'm in CA and willing to drive several hundred miles to get this done. If you're out of the area, post anyway - I know there are people all over looking for the same thing. Any imput would help!

I found it to be much easier than I would have thought.. Just use the online install instructions. They're pretty informative. Was a first for me and it went without a hitch. Just take your time with it...

Default Alright...i guess i might as well

Thanks for the encouragment! I started looking on Ebay for the needed parts. One more question - did you guys change the odometer reading on your new dashes, assuming you had a pre - hud cluster? How did you do this? Thanks!

Contact forum member PaceThis (Josh) He usually has all the parts that you need to install the HUD setup in your car. (Mostly brandnew parts) He will not only sell you the parts but will give you step by step instructions on how to install it in your car. Even better...if you are close to him, he installs the setup for a very low price under $100.00 or so.

I bought all my parts (with exception of the 11pin connector) through valvegod for around $260 shipped. All new parts too (projector, switch, bezel..)

I lucked out with my cluster as it was HUD ready so I can't answer your odo question..

The mileage is stored in the cluster. A speedometer shop can reset it for you. Mine cost $80 to reset to the mileage of the original non HUD cluster I pulled out of my '98. Don't deal w/ the car dealer on this....car dealers only send cluster's out to speedo shops. Deal directly w/ the speedo shop... Good luck w/ your project..

I understand the factory HUD equipped cars have a special windshield, but have read many posts from members that say the HUD works fine on standard windshields.
