Default Gear swap.

Strongly considering swapping to a 4:10 gear in my 04 MN6. Realize this has been discussed a bunch, but never really saw a decisive answer. Including all parts and labor, what can I expect to pay for installation by an experienced shop? Also any recommendations on shops, i.e. Lingenfelter, Reese *** @ MTI, Mallett, etc? Thanks.

I just went to 4.10 gears and I love them. Check out the 2 threads that I started and that should help you out.

Diff swap is an easy job any competent C5 shop can easily handle in 4 hours or less. Installation charge should be in the $400 range. No PCM reprogamming is necessary if the diff is all you're upgrading - the vehicle speed sensor (VSS) is on the top of the diff reading off of the output shaft. If you're donating your original diff as the core, price should range from $1000-$1200 for the 4.10 diff. Or you can sell your stocker for $400 or so here or elsewhere.
