While sitting at a particularly long traffic light in my 03 Z06, I noticed that if I press the shifter up against any of 1st though 4th gears (no clutch, just press the shifter as if the clutch was in), the car engages somewhat and moves forward slowly.
I know, stupid thing, dont do it, but is that normal, or does it indicate something not adjusted properly? Thanks....

You are rubbing your syncros againts each other, you don't need a clutch, you can shift by jamming the stick into any gear, also don't rest your hand on the shifter while driving, this will cause wear.

Nothing can be adjusted for attempting to do "stupid" [as you put it]things.

I do this all the time. No one ever told me it was bad for the trasmission. What kind of wear does it do? How long does it take for the wear to become noticeable?
I generally rest my hand on the shifter in traffic because I know that in a few seconds/minutes I will have to shift again. However, I do not move the shifter at all when my hand is resting on it. I just put my hand on top; I guess there is weight straight down on the shifter. Is this what causes wear?
