I just replaced my rear speakers. I used the Alpines SPS-130A. I think it made a big difference. The mids and highs are great. I angled the tweeters at my head. I know this messes up the sound stage for the audiophiles, but for me big improvement IMHO. I have the SPS-080A for the doors coming, can't wait.

I have the Alpine SPS-080As in my doors and noticed a bigger improvement than when I put some Kenwood 5.5"s in the back. replacing all four speakers and putting in the partition improved the sound of the stock system so much I didn't feel the need to do any more.
I regret not putting Alpines in the back, and one day I might switch them out, but I would rather put that money towards other mods at present.

I got the rears for $50 on the net. Not bad. I am doing the fronts this weekend. I will report.
I just acquired a pair of Alpine SPS-130A speakers (Thanks eBay) for my Z06.
Will I have to splice into any wires to hook these guys up, or do the stock GM speaker wiring connectors just plug into the Alpines?

Yes, you will have to splice into the GM wires. I just cut the the GM connectors off myself. I am not planning on ever putting the stocks ones back. The B terminal on the stock seakers in the positive. Keep track what color wire went to it.
I have now did the fronts, world of differnce IMHO. I am now happy with the stereo. It would be cool to have a nice sub, but I am not willing to give up the truck space.
IMHO, this is a very good mod for little money. A must do for the stock stuff.

Take Care,
Thanks for the reply Rick...
If I could find a cheap adapter so I wouldn't have to cut into the stock wiring, I would....But looking for something like that might be more trouble then it's worth...
I look forward to 'hearing' the difference. I'll probably go with Alpine SPS-080A's up front as suggested in the near future...Just gotta find the 'best' deal on 'em...Back to eBay I go....
Guys--- seriously, one of the best things you can do to improve the quality of sound for your rear speakers is to install a partition in the rear of you Z. We have them, as well as other vendors, and they really do greatly enhance the sound quality.
Brian is right, the partition in the back of the Z06 does improve the sound of your system.
I ended up going with one from www.pfyc.com but all the vendors seem to get great feedback so if you decide on one, I'm sure you will be happy with any one you choose.

I agree. I have had a partition in mine for over two years now. But, it does not compare to a speaker change. I also have the full insulation kit. That make a big difference too.
