Hey guys... I need some feedback on a idea before I go out and spend many hours working on it... only for it to look like crap. As you know I'm putting together a C5-R Look-A-Like... and I've come to a small bump in the road. I just finished putting together some fog lamp Z06 style screens when I noticed that there is a screen box surrounding the center opening on the lower air dam (splitter) Now my question is... do you think it will look good on my street car... or look cheap? They real C5-Rs used them to keep debrie out of the opening... so in a way they serve some use to my street car. I just don't want this screen box to make my car look cheap or crappy. Feedback please... lines are now open...
I got some plastic octagon shaped holes about 1/4" netting from work. Don't know the name of it, but they sell it at Lowe's (black) It cuts easily and can be painted. I am building my own from Polyfibre and this netting.
Your car looks great.
I personally dont like the look of the screen, but depands how in-depth you want to go with the REAL racecar look. Dale E. Jr. C5R replica does not have a screen on it.

PS thanks for the feedback on my site, I will shoot you one soon.
Oh man that is a horrible looking job... it's not even close to mine (thank God) and it's just.... just horrible. What is that awful thing under the rear fascia??? His headlights arn't even painted... uhh front plate? "who needs a front plate them moulded light housings look just fine!" I wonder what side skirts he is using? ugh... I need to go throw up now. I hope this car does not belong to a member. I'm just glad he is selling it.
I vote for leaving it open as long as there's nothing to damage behind that opening.
It is a active ram air system... so only the intake man' and throttle body. I did install a small screen behind the nose, It should be enough to protect the engine. I hope it never gets tested...
Given what you are doing, I'd say it needs to be there, BUT I'm sure you can do a better job of making it look like it OUGHT to be there, not "tacked on," as is the real one. I suggest making one that fits just inside the opening.
