Default Mouse Nest in Heating Ducts

My 2002 C5 is occassionally parked for several weeks at a time and mice built a nest in the heating ducts (enough to jam the blower fan). I couldn't find how to get in and clean the ducts, so had the local Chevy dealer do it. They told me the ducts have a gate under the car that is open when parked and closed when driving and the mice can easily climb in when parked. I live in California and the car is in an open garage (no door). I'm considering purchase of a Car Storage Bag from California Car Cover Co. Any opinions of this product or any other suggestions to keep the mice out. Thanks in advance.

Where would that gate under the car be located? I've never heard of this before.

The dealer said the gate was on the passenger side toward the back of the engine.
