Default How To Remove Airbox?

Does anyone know where I can find a step by step proceedure (with pictures) on how to remove my 2004 Z06 airbox. Seems like it may be difficult, is it removed from underneath with the car on ramps?
Thank You.

It's easy and you do it from the top. Search up the instructions for the zip tie mod because you remove the box for that. The instructions I used had lots of pic's.

Do it from the top. The box is attached to the two rubber grommets on the front frame. They just slip on. Its a tight fit, but you can either wrestle them off, or use a pry bar of some sort. The first time you take them off they are a bit tough.

J-Rod's instructions are better, but here's how I remember it:
1. cuss
2. cuss
3. cuss, cuss, cuss
4. CUSSSS, CUSSS, CUSSING CUSS!
....
30. #$(*&#$(*, #@$&)@$&, %&^)@@)(%(!!!!!!!!!!

And then I was done.

Be very careful not to drop the rubber grommets.
They are very difficult to find, if they drop down the front of the car.
I have replaced an airbox, in the parking lot, at a Cruise-In.

Careful with the electrical plug. I broke off one of the connectors. Look at it carefully and you will see that you have to push down the center portion (where the little lock is) and then pull it apart. I know - poorly written, but you will see it.

Careful with the metal clamps that hold the box together. If you undo them, then they will pop up in the air, and on my car flip to the outside of the hood where they could scratch.

As for pulling the box free of the gromets - pull directly back to the firewall - no upward motion. I found that worked best. It will pop free.

Good luck.

Default Airbox removal

Sorry I don't have the site,

But if you look for halltech's website (I googled it) then go under stinger installation instructions you will find a pdf with photos. It makes it quite easy. Just be sure to drape the side of the car with a towel or blanket or you may scratch up the surface.

This may not be perfect, but is close:
- Disconnect MAF electrical connection (it has a little gray lock that needs to be pulled back)
- Remove clamp and pull off air tube on driver's side of airbox
- Unscrew clamp holding airbridge to throttle body
- Pop airbridge off the top of the two grommets on top of the radiator shroud
- Go to front of car and reach hands down in front of airbox and push it rearwards from bumper - it is held on by two rubber grommets to the back of the front bumper

When these two grommets are loose, the entire airbox, maf and airbridge assembly can easily be lifted out of the car and worked on.
