Default Maintain a C5

Does it cost more to repair and maintain a C5 than a C4?
Are the oil changes and repairs easier on a C5 than a C4?
How are the 98-2001 C5s holding up??

I have a 1996 Collector Edition Convertible and a 2002 C5 Coupe. Different cars from a driver's perspective, but the maintenance routine seems to be pretty much the same. These are weekend drivers and both are low mileage / immaculate vehicles. Neither has provided an unexpected maintenance problem to date.

Default C4 & C5

I owned a C4 that had 68,000 miles. The maintenance on it was about the same as the C5. Both has share of nusiance problems but nothing major. I would not let maintenance keep you from a C5.. I much prefer it to the C4. 99 Nassau Blue

I own both a C4 and C5, The maintenance is about the same on both! The C5s are holding up well! mine is a 99 and have had no problems other than routine Maintenance. If you are thinking of buying go with the C5

the c5's clutch job is much more of a PITA then the c4's is. However I read somewhere that 200 less parts were used in the C5 so less stuff to go wrong. Also, no opticrap distributor!

I had 4 C4's and now 2 C5's and I would say that the repair/maintenance are about the same. The oil changes were a little cheaper in the C4 simply because it did not take 6.5 quarts of Mobil 1 to fill it up.

Jumping from my C4 (93 Coupe with 167,000 miles) to my 01 Z was the best move I made. Mods are the same price or lower (believe it or not), maintenance costs are the same, and NO optispark!! I had 4 optisparks die on my 93. On the C5, if a coil goes bad, fine, $50 or so per, but you can replace just the one that went bad, yourself in less time than it would take you to put the C4 on jack stands to start messing with the optispark.

Just the C5 tax. It is getting less due to the new C6 tax laws.
