Got brave today from everybody's post about painting the hoodliner. Decided to give it a shot. Went the extra mile, and after 5 cans of red satin spray paint, got the black hoodliner a shade of red. Then painted the flags. Reversed the darn checkered pattern, but otherwise, it turned out okay. Left the tabs black for now, and may, think it offsets the red. Thanks for all the previous posts on the topic. It was not easy, and there were a few times I was sweating and asking myself why I had started this.

Yeah they probably would scratch off if you werent careful. Might have to get that plastic latex paint, of do a little light sanding. But, Im not going to paint them. I like'm black. Its getting to be a lot of red in the compartment, and I'm not done.

Looks great!!!!
I was just looking at mine today and thinking I should paint mine too. And the more I looked at it the more I thought it wouldn't be too tough. Now of course.....ever time I say that about anything I'm totally wrong.....
So....if you don't mind me asking...... exactly what was tough about it? What gave you problems? I'm just looking for info so I know what to expect....

I am sure anybody and everybody who has done this, will tell you the hoodline soaks up paint and primer like a son of a gun. But, that is also soaks it up in different areas better or faster. Buy plenty of paint, and then buy some more. Then once you have the liner painted, the flags will be much easier. And that takes a nice steady hand too. You will cry at some point during the project, but hang in there, it all comes together.

Thanks.....that's good to know. I'm just planning on doing mine black.....probably (at least hopefully ) easier than trying to get it a uniform red like you did!
