Yeah regardless of what car they drive a true car enthusiast will give you a wave or nod. Alot of people buy cars just for the status symbol (seems that Porsches are big for this - based on my experiences) and don't really have an appreciation for what they drive nor the ability/desire to "tap into it".
This past Friday I had a good encounter. Though not a particular fan of rice, I came up behind a new Z (Nissan 350Z that is) and actually it looked fairly nice. Was lowered, real clean, with fairly conservative aftermaket rims and exhaust. As I rumbled up next to him for a closer look, before I could even the acknowledge the guy, he pointed to my car and me and gave me the To which I responded back .
Then again Sat on the turnpike around 7 pm a guy in a Saturn for some reason tried to catch me on a two-lane offramp corner. As he "surprisingly" came up along side of me and gave me a bit of a sneer I rolled down my window as we came up to the toll booth and reminded him that in New Jersey we do tend to use our headlights at night.
(as his were off and I practically ran into him as I tried to merge over into the proper toll lane
)
